Anything but a Cameo…
The Cameo, a quintessential after hours hang-out in Cardiff’s leafy Pontcanna has been making anything but a cameo appearance on the social scene in Cardiff for well over a decade. Well established as one of the coolest spots in town, this classic Victorian property has undergone a major refurbishment to create a boutique private members club without rival in Cardiff.
Designed by Cardiff outfit SpaceBuro, The Cameo boasts a new restaurant, bar area and panelled private dining room, all made possible by the acquisition of the property next door. Co-owned by television personality Rhodri Ogwen Williams, The Cameo aims to create an environment for its members reflecting the new confidence in the air in Cardiff – offering a unique ambience to drink, eat and network in luxury.
Rhodri Ogwen Williams, co-owner of The Cameo said
‘This Cameo is the perfect escape from the identikit boozers found in any city around the UK. We wanted to create somewhere which is a haven but also a place to party on a par with any cool members club you might find anywhere across the globe.
‘I look forward to the reaction of old and new members and are offering Founder Memberships for the first 100 people to sign up and look forward to welcoming friends old and new to celebrate with us.’
Adrian Geach of SpaceBuro said
‘The inspiration for the new look Cameo draws upon classic gentlemen’s clubs but with a modern twist. The aim being to create an atmosphere which can accommodate the quiet confines of a business meeting, private dinner party or lazy afternoon slumber with a newspaper and then transform into a private party complete with music, buffet facilities, and the benefit of a private bar.
‘The neutral cool grey backdrop, combined with traditional panelled walls and colourful design statement furniture and lighting is light and airy during the day with low lit sophistication at night. The club contains bespoke wall coverings and a variety of accessories which gives a stylish modern quirkiness.’
