Arwel Ellis Owen established Cambrensis in 1990 following a 30 year career with the BBC.
After graduating from Aberystwyth in International Politics, Arwel received the Winston Churchill Fellowship and traveled to Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. At 25, he began his career with the BBC as a reporter on the current affairs programme, Heddiw. After periods in Cardiff and London as editor of news and current affairs programmes such as Week in Week Out, Panorama and Newsnight Arwel was appointed Head of Programmes at BBC Northern Ireland in 1985.
As Chief Executive of Cambrensis, he has chaired BAFTA Cymru, the Derwen facility house, TRI Television, the International Film School of Wales and Cable Cymru Wales. He currently divides his time between making television and radio programmes and carrying out media training worldwide.
Arwel has a broad client base in the UK, and through his work with the Thomson Foundation this year alone he has trained journalists in India, Saudi Arabia, Moldova, Bangladesh and Norway.
