design commission for wales
Cambrensis' partnership with the Design Commission for Wales (DCFW) began in April 2004 when we were invited to come up with suggestions for their very first public relations exercise.
The Commission were looking for a low—budget campaign that would stimulate interest in design and architecture in Wales, not just amongst the elite but also on the street. Cambrensis suggested the 'Your Square Mile' campaign.
We gained third—party endorsement by getting well—known celebrities with a Welsh connection to vote for their favourite spaces and places in Wales. As part of the newspaper, radio and television coverage of the celebrity choices, the public were invited to go to an interactive map on the DCFW's website and nominate their own favourite site. During Architecture Week Wales, a 'top 10' of Wales' favourite sites as voted by the public was published.
The total value of editorial coverage according to the press cuttings supplied totaled over £30,000 and the client was satisfied that the campaign met the brief in terms of getting the public to think about the spaces and places around them.
